How it Works
EarthPercent collaborates with the music industry, with global innovators, and with aligned organisations to provide opportunities for individuals and brands in the music industry to raise funds for the planet using existing mechanisms within music and through innovating new fundraising strategies and campaigns. We use 100% of funds raised from artists and brands to power our Grant Giving programme, ensuring that impactful organizations tackling climate change receive the necessary resources to drive positive change.
THE Core % MODEL
We help artists and music-related organisations to pledge a small percentage of their income to EarthPercent.
Funds collected are distributed to the most impactful organisations addressing the climate and biodiversity emergency.We’ve also made it REALLY easy for anyone in music to make a difference through a number of simple but impactful solutions across the five key sources of revenue; live, recording songwriting/publishing, merchandising and brand sponsorship.

One of our flagship initiatives, The Earth As Your Co-writer, allows songwriters to include the planet as a stakeholder by crediting ‘The Earth’ with a % of a composition.
Spotify US recently hosted an Earth Sessions songwriting camp.
Songwriters can also support from their existing catalogue via a letter of direction or direct donation. We are currently working with cross-industry partners to explore how the synch and advertising sectors could deliver benefits to the planet.

We partner with artists, their teams and labels to run our major annual Earth Day campaign, which sees music released digitally and on bio-plastic EvoVinyl. We are also supported by distributors who contribute a % of their income and invite artists and labels to join them.

Merchandise is a vital income stream for artists, a sought- after item for fans, a key part of the artist-fan relationship and a challenge to the planet. We’re working with artists to redirect income to climate justice and environmental partners while also collaborating with the industry’s merch partners to support essential innovation in the sector.
We’re working with BSI Merchandise, Everpress and Hawkr to explore what a more planet-positive approach to merchandise could look like. Artists including Jacob Collier and The National have incorporated a share for the Earth out of their merchandise revenue.

Auctions
Robert Smith and Gorillaz donated a unique guitar for auction at Bonhams with all proceeds going to EarthPercent.
Corporate Fundraising
Some organisations and individuals choose EarthPercent as their chosen charity for fundraising events. Hylo Athletics is a running trainer brand committed to sustainability, their founder Michael Doughty recently ran 4 ultra marathons in 4 days, fund-raising exclusively for EarthPercent along the way.
One-off Donations
Any musicians, organisations or members of the public can choose to make one-off donations to EarthPercent at any time.

WE WORK WITH EXPERTS
Every grant we make is vetted by our Expert Advisory Panels in the UK and US - both are international, multidisciplinary, multi-generational, and diverse group of climate scientists, academic researchers, economists, climate communicators, youth activists, community organisers and policy makers.
